School of Marxism Wins First Prize and Five Other Awards in Provincial Paper Selection

The School of Marxism at Nanfang College, Guangzhou (NCG) has secured six awards in a provincial research paper selection for private higher education institutions, including one first prize, two second prizes and three third prizes.

The results were announced following the fourth Guangdong-wide paper submission and selection initiative for Schools of Marxism at private higher education institutions. Organised by the Specialised Committee on Marxist Research and Teaching in Private Higher Education under the Guangdong Association for Private Education, the initiative invited faculty members from across the province to explore the theme “Theory and Practice of High-Quality Development of Schools of Marxism at Private Higher Education Institutions in Guangdong in the New Era.” It attracted numerous submissions from participating institutions.

The six award-winning papers grew out of research into the challenges and opportunities facing ideological and political education in private higher education. Faculty members examined a range of topics, including the development of broader approaches to ideological and political education, innovation in the teaching of ideological and political theory courses, and research in Marxist theory. Their work brought theoretical inquiry into dialogue with practical questions arising from teaching and student development.

This close connection between research and classroom practice is central to the School’s approach to faculty development. Teachers are encouraged to pursue theoretical and applied research informed by their experience in private higher education, strengthening their academic expertise while exploring ways to make ideological and political theory courses more effective.

The School now plans to build on the award-winning research by developing it into teaching resources and pursuing further work on challenges encountered in ideological and political theory courses. By bringing research findings back into the classroom, it aims to strengthen both teaching practice and the effectiveness of ideological and political education.
