Since its establishment, Nanfang College Guangzhou has been dedicated to exploring and implementing reforms in higher education. In April 2024, I was greatly honored to assume the position of President of this vibrant institute. I am acutely aware of the significant responsibilities that come with this role and hope to contribute meaningfully to the college's progress on this new platform.

In an era where higher education is becoming increasingly specialized, professionalized, and vocational, university education must aim to cultivate modern talents with idealism, a humanistic spirit, and a scientific mindset. Nanfang College has long advocated for interdisciplinary and cross-field learning, striving for a balance between the breadth and depth of knowledge. We consistently prioritize student-centered approaches, respecting students' interests and wishes, and fully considering their individual needs. Additionally, Nanfang College will continue to emphasize teaching excellence, encouraging our faculty to dedicate themselves to high-quality instruction while also embodying the concept of "promoting teaching through research" in their academic activities.

As the development of artificial intelligence is taking the world by storm, traditional knowledge alone cannot keep up with the fast-paced changes in our technological society. We are committed to cultivating modern talents with critical thinking, communication skills, innovation capabilities, and practical abilities. By enhancing these comprehensive abilities, we are determined to prepare our graduates to keep pace with the times. We hope that graduates of Nanfang College will not only receive a degree but also continually increase in their value, and become individuals with long-term competitive capabilities.

Nanfang College has been on its educational journey for nearly 18 years and is now stepping into "adulthood". We are grateful for the solid foundation laid by our faculty and students through their continuous efforts. Today, the college is widely recognized for its achievements in student cultivation, teaching quality, research innovation, and service to social and economic development. In the years ahead , I will lead Nanfang College to embrace the new challenges and opportunities presented by the AI era, striving to build the college into a distinctive, first-class applied-oriented institute.
