A Review to the "NCGLOBAL" Activities on Overseas Study Service

The "NCGLOBAL" Activities on Overseas Study Service hosted by the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the Office of Student Affairs, undertaken by the Overseas Study Service Center was launched from April to May covering a variety of activities and a wide range of topics, including school selection guidance, the analysis of trends, special promotion sessions and a number of international education programs. The activities aim to provide comprehensive overseas study planning guidance for students, have attracted more than 400 students to participate in on-site exchanges.

In this event, the Overseas Study Service Center also expanded the scope of participation through real-time live broadcast, allowing the majority of students to access valuable information and resources for studying abroad. Students who participated in both offline and online showed great enthusiasm and had actively asked questions about various topics such as major selection, study planning, grade improvement, language exams, etc. The event invited a number of planning tutors to the scene for exchanges, carefully prepared a variety of exquisite gifts as rewards. The tutors patiently answered students' questions about studying abroad, and helped students plan their academic and future career development paths.

Professor Liu Wenbin, Vice President of NCG, and Chai Jin, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange, were deeply concerned about the students' study career. They gave on-site guidance and had patiently answered the students' questions about studying abroad during the Q&A sessions. The series of activities not only demonstrate the importance NCG attaches to international education, but also reflect the provision of accurate and customized support and the best quality services for students.

Session 1: Analysis of Studying Abroad from a New Perspective: Analysis of Studying in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Australia


On the afternoon of April 10, NCG’s first lecture on overseas study in the new semester came to a successful conclusion. In this event, Gao Han, a senior study-abroad planning instructor, gave a lecture titled "New Perspectives on Studying Abroad: Guide and Analysis of School Selection in the UK and Australia, Postgraduate Entrance Examination and Study Abroad". Gao Han's lecture provided an in-depth analysis of the current postgraduate entrance examination and new trends in studying abroad, accompanied by practical school selection guides as well as international exchange experiences. These contents have attracted the participation of many students who are deepky interested in applying to study abroad. This lecture helps students better plan their study paths and enhances their confidence in going to world-renowned universities.

The second lecture was delivered by Morris Altman, Dean of the Business School of the University of Dundee, United Kingdom


On the afternoon of April 16, Morris Altman, Dean of the Business School of the University of Dundee in United Kingdom, held a lecture on the study theme. Dean Morris Altman introduced the University of Dundee in details covering the geographical location, campus environment and quality of education, and emphasized the importance of language learning in international communication. Students actively asked questions creating a great heat atmosphere, and Dean Morris Altman patiently answered the students' doubts. The Q&A session gave students a deeper understanding to the University of Dundee.

Session 3 Kevin ·Geoghegan, Vice President of Griffith College


On the afternoon of April 17, nearly 100 students from the Sino-foreign cooperative education program listened to the wonderful speech of Vice President Kevin Gagan of Griffith College, Ireland. The lecture has comprehensively demonstrated Griffith's strength, education quality, students' life and average salary after students' graduation, emphasized the importance of improving English skills against the context of globalization. The students actively interacted with each other and competed to ask questions. Vice President Kevin patiently answered and provided detailed guidance and advice. The seminar has deepened the students' understanding and recognition to Griffith College and further stimulated their enthusiasm and confidence to study in Ireland.

The fourth 2024 summer visting program lecture (University College London/University of Sydney/University of Western Australia)


On the afternoon of April 24, the lecture on 2024 Summer Visiting Program was successfully held. Tutors of overseas study planning Steven Wu and Tina Huang were invited to share and explain overseas study planning and master's application, accompanied by their experience of studying abroad and the introduction to three world-famous universities in this program. Students had a comprehensive understanding of the details to the summer visits. This lecture provided students with a wealth of knowledge about studying abroad and an introduction to the winter and summer vacation programs in addition to the sharing of experience, ensuring a smooth and fulfilling path for students to embrace the world.

Session 5: Analysis of Studying Abroad from a New Perspective: Studying in Hong Kong and Macao

On the afternoon of May 8, the fifth lecture of the series was carried out as scheduled. Speaker of this lecture, Jenny, a senior overseas study planning tutor, was invited to share her expertise. Jenny is the Director of China Admissions at Monash University in Australia and has over 15 years of experience in the international education industry. She has successfully passed the Hong Kong Talent Scheme. Analyzing in the lecture the current new trend of studying in Hong Kong and Macao, she provided practical guidelines for inter-major study and college selection. The nearly two-hour professional sharing helped students better plan their overseas study scheme and prepare them for the world's top universities.

How do students feel about participating in the study abroad service series activities?

Zhang Wanyi

Zhang Wanyi, a 2021 undergraduate majoring in International Chinese Education from the School of Foreign Languages, said that the lectures and symposium helped clarify her goals for studying abroad and allow her to gain insights.

Qin Kaiqi

Qin Kaiqi, undergraduate of 2023 accounting major from the School of Accounting participated and said she wanted to study psychology at University College London in the future. "I feel that the activities are very helpful to me. Through these activities, I have an in-depth understanding to the policies on overseas study and educational environments of different countries, and have a clearer plan for overseas study and life. In addition, the event also provided opportunities for me to communicate with experts and senior students, allowing me to gain valuable advice and experience sharing, which will have a positive impact on my application and future life. "

Zheng Nan

Zheng Nan, a 2023 finance student from the School of Business, said after participating in the “2024 Summer Visiting Study Seminar” she had gained a lot and planned to study finance in the United States. "This activity answered some of my questions about studying abroad and also gave me a certain understanding of some foreign schools."

Ou Guiying

Ou Guiying, a 2022 student in Chinese language and literature, said she learned a great deal after participating Lecture. "I plan to study Chinese language in Hong Kong and Macao. This lecture gave me a deeper understanding of the conditions ti studying abroad, pointed out the direction for my study journey."

Deng Sirui

Deng Sirui, a 2023 student of international economics and trade, said after attending Jenny's seminar she had benefited a lot and planned to study sociology in Hong Kong, United States or United Kingdom. "This event allowed me to learn about some more cost-effective ways to apply for overseas study, strategies for studying abroad, and ways to save on the cost of agents."

The enthusiastic discussions and valuable feedback from teachers and students have made the series more exciting. In the future, the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange will create a more diverse platform on international exchange for teachers and students, providing more high-quality opportunities and resources.
